Immediate effects of alcohol

A couple of months ago I had a couple of glasses of whiskey, and for five or six days I felt chills and short of breath, so I made an appointment with my primary care physician. As is often the case, I was already feeling fine when I went, but he did some blood tests which came back perfect. I've decided never to have another drink, but honestly, it's quite frustrating. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

  1. Thanks for asking. Alcohol can be a contributing factor in many types of cardiovascular diseases, including arrhythmia. You might be interested in this article that lists risk factors (scroll down). It says alcohol can raise blood pressure, cause irregular heart rhythms, interfere with medications, and increase triglyceride levels. All of these raise your risk of heart complications. I can certainly understand your frustration! Warmly, Kathy (Team member)
