i am 72 and have inappropriate sinus tach and occasional pics

anyone else experiencing inappropriate sinus tach. also palpitations with pvcs and pacs. nothing shows up on a regular ekg. it is not atrial fib but random tachycardia without trigger. also normal on cardiac imaging including echo and angiogram. the tachycardia is random and often occurs in my sleep or at rest. often triggered by eating. along with this comes exercise intolerance. lung studies are also normal. i have been on a multitude of meds without relief. so frustrating. the palpitations are very annoying.

  1. To choose the optimal course of treatment, a cardiologist should assess a 72-year-old patient who has inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) and sporadic premature atrial contractions (PACs). Managing symptoms, addressing underlying causes, and assessing for future complications—particularly the risk of atrial fibrillation (AFib)—are the objectives of treatment.

    1. mine are showing up as pvcs with a burden of 1%. MY objective for treatment is to stop the horrible that are taking over my life and preventing me from focusing on anything else. Some I am so distracted by them I can’t carry on a conversation. I have had the loop recorder for almost a month now It has recorded numerous tachy episodes but they only analyze the data once a month. So I am still waiting on answers

  2. No I am not. i have seen 3 cardiologists one of which said i just need to control my anxiety! currently i am scheduled for an implantable loop recorder in the hopes of getting some answers with the eventual goal of an ablation procedure but we have to find the source of the arrhythmia. unfortunately i am Medicare and managed by a huge medical conglomerate and to seek care elsewhere means going outside my network and possiblly repeating all the battery of tests. so i will have the implant early next month. one of the other most frustrating aspects of my providers is that they are so busy and booked up with appointments. it takes at least a month for an appointment. no such thing as an urgent appointment. i waited 3 months to see my current electrophysiologist for the ablation consultation.

    1. , I am so sorry to hear that. I hope the procedure goes well for you next month. Please let us know how it goes. I hope when it comes for Medicare re-enrollment time (October 15 through December 7), you can find a plan that offers a larger selection of providers. All the best, Kathy (Team member)

  3. That sounds so frustrating! It's also scary to have the symptoms when they cannot find the cause. Are you happy with the way your medical team has been looking after you? Warmly, Kathy (Team member)
